Woodward Avenue Belt
Headmaster is excited to announce Headshoppe, the latest evolution of our online store. Each month we will feature a single Headmaster-approved item, selected with our man-loving readers in mind.
For the month of August, we’re helping you assemble your back to school look with the beautifully crafted WOODWARD AVENUE BELT from HEX DETROIT. Headmaster launches Headshoppe with this belt because it is industrial yet elegant, smart, and sexy – just like Headmaster himself.
The Woodward Avenue Belt is meticulously assembled by hand from twenty-five 5’16” steel hex nuts, given a durable powder coat finish, then affixed to an embossed, vegetable tanned leather belt that's hand cut and 1.5" wide.
Hex Detroit is the project of Jesse Stefani, a Michigan native and third generation metalsmith who studied industrial design at the College for Creative Studies in downtown Detroit. One day, while rummaging through his family’s shop, Stefani found a dusty cardboard box filled with leftover nuts and bolts. He began experimenting, first by arc welding a steel bowl made only of hex bolts. That went well, and then one day Stefani needed a belt to wear around his shop, so he made a buckle out of hex nuts. Stefani’s one-off “hex belt” got a lot of attention, and soon Hex Detroit was born.
The belt is lovingly named for America’s first paved road, Detroit’s Woodward Avenue. Plotted in 1805, the 21 mile road was one of Detroit’s five principal avenues and is still considered Detroit’s Main Street. Named after Augustus Brevoort Woodward, the street is taken over each August by the Woodward Dream Cruise, the world’s largest one-day automotive event, which draws 40,000 classic cars from around the world.
SIZING: The belt measurement extends from the belt buckle to the center hole of the belt. Your belt size is measured in inches. Generally speaking, your belt size is 2-4 few inches larger than your pant size.
SHIPPING: All items are shipped via USPS. Non-magazine items from the headshoppe will be shipped in two batches at the middle and end of the month, since they are made to order, so please allow 2-3 weeks for the belts to arrive.
